Haram Haqiqatjou #36: Qawl Al-Zoor: Falsely Accusing Muslim Public Figures of Charging Exorbitant Honorariums
Background
Haqiqatjou posted slanderous Telegram posts and Twitter tweets accusing figures like Imam Omar Suleiman, Imam Suhaib Webb, and Linda Sarsour of charging exorbitant honorariums, all while mocking them. When confronted about this misinformation and lying, Daniel defended the website he cited. Some may ask: why defend Linda Sarsour given her track record that defends very progressive policies? Our Prophetic tradition is one of character, no matter the circumstance. When someone’s name is lied about, we should make the truth clear.
After being told that a brother had asked one of the accused, Omar Suleiman, about this issue and Suleiman had rejected this website as a scam website, Haqiqatjou deleted his original tweet. He stated, “if those numbers don’t actually represent the fees of the speakers listed e.g., OS, Webb, Sarsour, etc., then I publicly retract any implication I’ve made otherwise.”
But, as usual, Haqiqatjou is an insincere liar. The Telegram posts remain LIVE on his Telegram page, Daniel Haqiqatjou Official, and his tweets referencing the now-deleted tweet remain.
Haram Action
Daniel slandered the names of these individuals with this accusation, which like all fitna, garnered hundreds of thousands of views in the time it was online. Since then, he has deleted the original tweet, while keeping up with the original Telegram posts and Tweets that reference the honorarium slander. If Haqiqatjou was sincere and remorseful for this haram, would he not remove any trace of this slander from his profiles?
Evidence of Haram
Al-Mustawrid reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever eats so much as a morsel at the expense of a Muslim’s reputation, then Allah will feed him the likes of it in Hell. Whoever clothes himself with a garment at the expense of a Muslim’s reputation, then Allah will clothe him with the likes of it in Hell. Whoever stands in a position of repute and fame at the expense of a man, then Allah will make him stand in a position of repute and fame on the Day of Resurrection.”
